Poetry Friday -- a woman's geography

a woman's geography

trying to understand breasts
through your sweater,
how different a landscape i would find
under your fly;

a woman's geography --
a different country than a man --
like traveling with margaret mead
to tanganyika.

not really. what i mean is,
the soil is different,
some landmarks are missing,
others are present in their place.

i don't really understand.
i can almost sleepwalk
in the country of a man,
the map is written that deeply in me.

but a woman --
well i don't know.
i guess i'm afraid
i might get lost there.
